Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco did an Ask Me Anything on Reddit on the infamous Positive Hardcore Thursday. He answered everything from silly ridiculous questions with witty answers, to more serious inquiries that I’m glad he addressed. Here are the best 10 questions and answers.
1. Q: “Did angels sculp your cheekbones?” A: “I was crafted by the finest materials in the hands of angels. But they dropped me from pretty high-up, so… yeah.”
2. Q: “Why did you stop using guyliner?” A: “My eyes burn from these tears.”
3. Q: “What do you really do with your VMA?” A: “I use my VMA as a toilet paper holder. No joke. It’s somehow perfect for the task.”
4. Q: “Hey Brendon! What’s your craziest fan story?” A: “I have too many stories that could fall under “crazy”. But I usually revert to my first shock of our career when a fan gave us cookies in which she had placed a hair of hers into every single one. It took me 6 cookies to notice.”
5. Q: “Are you and Patrick Stump good friends? Your voices should totally get married.” A: “Yes. And Yes, I support same-vocal marriage.”
6. Q: “How would you describe your relationship with Fueled By Ramen?” A: “FBR is like a cool parent who lets you and your friends have some drinks with dinner. But sometimes the cool parents hang out with the kids too long and start getting awkward. And the kids are like “your parents are weird” so they don’t talk to you anymore. Then you find cooler friends.”
7. Q: “Do you keep in contact with Ryan Ross, and is there ever a possibility of working together again?” A: “I haven’t talked to Ryan in almost a year. Jon too, for that matter. I’m sure they’re busy doing their own thing.”
8. Q: “If I’m remembering correctly, for a while, you guys dropped the “!” and just went as “Panic At the Disco.” Why’d you go back to stylizing it as “Panic! At the Disco”?” A: “Honestly, we just printed it without the “!” one time, and people flipped out. We got a big kick out of their reactions, so we ran with it. But I prefer the “!” most definitely.”
9. Q: “If you were trapped on a desert island with nothing but a mermaid, would you want the bottom half or top half to be human?” A: “Ah, yes. This age-old question. I have to say I’d prefer a human top-half. I know for the sexual fantasy it’s not really practical, but, come on. I’m not fucking kissing a fish-head. YOU kiss a fish head.”
10. Q: “What do you say to fans who perhaps are only willing to listen to A Fever or only Pretty Odd, and how has this type of fan base effected your creative process for making Too Young?” A: “I love changing our sound from one album to the next. It helps to keep it all exciting and new. Fans will stay and fans will lose interest. All I can say is thank you to those who stick around.”
So there you have it. Urie’s sculpted by angels, supports same-vocal marriage, and the lack of “!” was all a fluke.
