Gully Low Blues – Louis Armstrong – The solos that intro and outro the 20s masterpiece written by the great man himself are there for dancing but once the vocal kicks in the song changes tempo and Louis growls an entreaty and a promise “If you just listen to me honey, I’ll tell you something you don’t know…” – A+
2. Waking Kight – Beck – It doesn’t sound like a Sea Changes outtake but it does sound like the same pen surrrounding the same deep blue hues – A-
3. Goodbye Pork Pie Hat – Bernie Worrell – Echoey darkly lovely piano arrangement – A
4. No Baby I – Old 97’s – Possibly the bands greatest moment, definably the greatest lyric – A+
5. Longer Than You’ve Been Alive- Old 97’s – Road song and a goodie after their newbie. Their best in years and years and listen to here – A
6. Little Me Unplugged – Little Mix – Worse slower, I mean really, singing a feel food song to you as a child? Ugh – D-
7. Drive – Marissa Nadler – Starts off pretty but loses steam once the singerly AOR vocal kicks in – B-
8. I’d Rather Be Broke – Toni Braxton – Minor though the hook began to stick, it works better in context – B
