1. My Stunning Mystery Companion – Jackson Browne – His last great moment, finds Jackson at a melodic high water mark with a cracker band and a guitar so tuneful it could bring tears to your eyes. Also, it reminds me of an ex and a future I reached – A+
2. Father And Daughter – Paul Simon – The thought of Simon standing guard because he can’t guarantee there is nothing scary under her bad can bring tears of joy to your eyes – A
3. The Late Show – Jackson Browne – Same girl, a couple of months earlier in the relationship – A
4. Satin Summer Nights – Paul Simon And Marc Anthony – Calypso doo wop from the flawed but fascinating musical (I saw it twice!) – A
5. I’m Alive – Jackson Browne – Same girl, six months after he end. What can I say? I was on a Jackson Browne kick which reminds me, this list is because I would so much rather be seeing a Browne – Simon concert – B+
6. Everything Put Together Falls Apart – Paul Simon – A sort of wise nursery rhyme about decay – A-
7. The Pretender – Jackson Pretender – Nice “er” rhymes except as Xgau note, the ice cream vendor and if in the end the pretender surrenders you can forgive him that one – A
8. Peace Like A River – Paul Simon – This is a dream of West Beirut (for me), it is like 4am in the morning where the night has fallen and the guys have gone quiet and the hope of a peace . “Nowhere to go but back to sleep but I am reconciled”. Paul Simon’s greatest song – A+
9. Something So Right – Paul Simon – Simon’s golden age, he can’t get used to something so right – A
10. In The Shape Of A Heart – Jackson Browne – One his greatest heartbreakers , the “I guess I never knew what she was talking about…” devastates. Congrats on the baby Nicki and goodbye – A
