Still Amazin, Still A Man
Still Amazin, Still A Man

1. Nas Is Like… Nas – 1999, this was one of my fave tracks, the verse is all spit strong rap and choppy beat  but the chorus is half a man and half amazing and my question is why does it sound so much like… A

2. Mathematics – Mos Def – Nas is weird bragging track, this is the mathematics of racism, but the hook is very similar – A

3. Stylo – Gorillaz – Add Mos def and Bobby Womack to Damon Albarn and what do you get? Not much – B-

4. Can I Get A… Jay Z – Classic come on, but not if you’re into him for his dough – A

5. Twin Size Mattress – The Front Bottoms – very powerful stuff,  not a million ways away from Springsteens “No Surrender”, a man watches his best friend fall apart and can’t help him, the last verse switches the POV of the song – A+

6.Lost Weekend – The Slo Slo Glos – Power pop with  a great melody and a wonderful lick – B+

7. All Summer Long – The Beach Boys – The “not for us now”, doesn’t hide the sense of an impending end, summers, childhoods, the romance, everything is hiding and they look back and forward  – A+

8. Get Her Back – Robin Thicke – My bet? This is performance art and they aren’t really broken up at all – B+

9. Dismantling Summer – The Wonder Years – I heard Soupy is recording a solo album, but how does he plan to beat this? – A
