1. Ordinary Fools – The Chain Gang Of 1974 – After Grand Theft Auto got through with the Hawaiian native, he’d move to L.A. and signed to WB. Nice work if you can get it, and the opening track of his first major label album, he gives them what they want: modern AOR with a mid tempo alt indie and a catchy hook, “leave your record on” he is more than willing to repeat till you get the point – B+
2. Blue Sky – The Allman Brothers – For the blues, this is way upbeat – A
3. Fuck The World – The Queers – Fuzzed out pop punk from their top abum – A-
4. When The Master Calls The Roll – Rosanne Cash – Best song off her newbie, more folk than country that’s for sure – A
5. Outfit – Drive By Truckers – Ed Bumgardner: “One of the most perfect songs of the past 20 years” – A+
6. Transgender Dysphoria Blues – Against Me! – The opening sounds like the Clash – A
7. I Don’t Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing – James Chance And the Contortions – It is amazing that young Chance made such a credible Brown though it was probably something to do with how much his singing voice resembled his sax sound – A
8. Black Girls/Kisses Sweeter Than Wine – Pete Seeger – Talk-y sing-y folk-y – B
9. Luv, Hold Me Down – Drowners – The more I listen to em, the more I wish it was recorded better – B+
10. Baby Please Change Your Mind – The Might Hannibal – Big time funk guy, and a pretty terrific template of soul; RIP big guy – A
