1. Where have All the Flowers Gone – Pete Seeger –   A circular story of dead young men and mourning young girls, and where all the flowers anyway? They’re on the young men’s graves. And in this a capella song, the yearning for a lesson to be learnt has an edge of threat to it  – A+

2.  Together  – Sam Smith –  Sounds like Blackstreet to me, no really. It has the same jumped up soul feel – B+

3. Fix – Blackstreet – A long time fave, they sound like a grown up new Edition – A

4. If I Had A Hammer – Pete Seeger – This ain’t bad, but have you ever heard Sam Cooke go for it – A

5. If I Had A Hammer – Sam Cooke – At the Copa so not as black as he could be, but an incredible version –six minutes of agitprop – A

6. This Land Is Your Land – Pete Seeger – very credible take (the 1960 live one) – A

7.  She Loves You – The Gaslight Anthem – Sounds like Rod Stewart early 80s but in a good way – A-

8. Ways To Phrase A Rejection – Drowners – Opening track on debut album, not bad Strokes-y but better natured. Should  kick harder – B+

9. Figure Of Eight – Peggy Sue – I think one reason I am not so keen on these indie pop bands is I don’t have a damn thing to say about them – B+

10. Find A Heart – David Crosby – Jazzy – B+
