This Yves Saint Laurent after party at the Palladium turned into a mini music festival, since after Father John Misty, Beck and Joan Jett, many bands signed on Burger Records took the stage to play into the wee hours,… and I guess if the Palladium had not put a stop at one point, bands would be still playing! It was a marathon of music and I was in heaven as soon as I managed to get in the front during Father John Misty’s set, and stayed there for the rest of the night! I knew about him and Beck playing, but Joan Jett was a complete and delightful surprise.
Sure, I didn’t see anything of Mr. Hedi Slimane’s new collections, I didn’t see any of the big Hollywood celebrities attending the venue to watch the runway which took place just before the after-party, but who cares when you can take close shots of Beck and Joan Jett? The Allah-Las, The Sloths (who very kindly had invited me to the show), Cherry Glazerr, Curtis Harding, No Parents, Bleached stretched the night, and at least two more bands were scheduled to play but couldn’t so I saw a very pissed off Kim (of Kim and the Created), pretending to pee on stage in sign of protestation with a bottle of designer mineral water… It was a punk show after all, but it was already 3 am….
