Which Musicians Support Johnny Depp?

The Depp versus Heard trial is on pause for a week, but we have seen Paul McCartney publicly supporting Johnny Depp during a recent concert. Is he the only famous musician supporting Depp during these tough times? Hell no!

A few days ago, John’s son, Sean Ono Lennon, made this ironic tweet: “These photos of Johnny sleeping are so damming. They prove that sometimes he falls asleep. Also that some creep was taking his picture while he was asleep. Damning indeed.” He was of course referring to the photos of Depp taken by Amber Heard when, she pretends, he had “passed out.” Sean is right, these photos don’t prove anything except that Johnny was sometimes sleeping, and whether he was simply tired or under the influence of something is irrelevant to what she is accusing him of having done. Also, note that Sean calls Amber “some creep.”

Last month, Shane McGowan also tweeted his support to Johnny with a large photo of him shaking his hand and the caption: “Stay strong brother we are with you.” The Pogues frontman couldn’t have been more direct.

Hollywood Vampires Bandmate Alice Cooper has also spoken several times in defense of Depp, saying he and Depp are best friends and declaring that he doesn’t believe the allegations because Depp is the most harmless person he has ever met. Here is an interview posted on Tik Tok, an interview in the Independent, another interview for Movieweb, and I am sure we can find many other examples.

Billie Perry, the wife of Joe Perry, Aerosmith’s lead guitarist, has also retweeted countless pro-Johnny or anti-Amber tweets like this one so that her entire Tweet account is filled with her support for Depp.

I haven’t seen strong evidence coming from Keith Richards, except for this throwback photo of his role in “Pirates of the Caribbean,” but Keith and Johnny have had a father and son relationship for a long time.

When Johnny’s mother died, Patti Smith posted her condolences on her website, and she also included this straightforward declaration regarding the allegations: “His flaws, however human, do not include the impulse nor the capacity to inflict violence. Johnny Depp would never intentionally harm another human being. Those who would suggest otherwise exhibit little regard for preserving and protecting family, reputation and any vestige of hope for fair and measured public scrutiny.”

Finally, Sia has apparently voiced her support for Depp two years ago, although I could not find her tweet anymore…

It takes a certain courage to express an opinion that goes against the mainstream media, which are largely supporting Heard, the #metoo movement, and this unnuanced “believe the women,” Let’s hope other musicians will voice their support soon because the evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of Johnny Depp here.
