‘When We Were Young’, A New Festival Headlined By Morrissey And The Descendants At The Observatory Next Month

When We Were Young has nothing to do with the Adele song, it’s a new festival at the Orange County Observatory, happening in April 8th and 9th, and headlined by Morrissey and the Decendents.

The line up is interesting with a bit of everything on the plate, Cage the Elephant, AFI, Joyce Manor, The Regrettes and Morrissey on Saturday and The Buttertones, Sadgirl, Tijuana Panthers, the Frights, Foxygen, Silversun Pickups, FIDLAR, and the Descendents on Sunday, and I am only mentioning the bands I am the most familiar with, because there are 35 of them, so I expect a very busy 2-day schedule.

The last time they had a festival at the Observatory (Beach Goth), things didn’t go too smoothly, but you can’t completely blame the organizers, since how many times does a violent California storm force people to shut down an outdoor stage? Almost never, but the Observatory has promised a few changes with ‘more space, nice bathroom, no overlapping set times, parking off site with free shuttle at OC fairgrounds, variety of new food options, quick entry and extra friendly security’.

‘We have heard your complaints and have taken them to heart to give everyone a much better experience in our backyard,’ they have even added to the flyer advertising the new festival.

The admission price is $175 +$25 service fee for a two-day GA, and $300 (plus fees) if you opt for the VIP Lounge package. There’s even a VIP Cabanas at $500 (plus fees) for a super package with pit access, private restrooms, charging stations, a private bar, and much more… And this is what I call doing the festival like a pasha.

For a single day ticket, it will cost you $100 for a Saturday GA ($175 for the VIP lounge) and only $60 for a Sunday GA ($100 for the VIP lounge)… So I guess this is the Morrissey fee which applies right there. I personally can’t wait to hear him lamenting on the new administration. Last time I saw him at the FYF Fest, he screamed ‘Please not Trump!’, and, as we all know, Morrissey’s nightmare (and mine) became reality since. So it may get interesting.
