Thursday February 24th 2022 at The Cutting Room:  NYC’s own KISS THE SKY performs their tribute to one of the most historic concerts of ALL-TIME….

It was New Year’s Eve 1969 / New Year’s Day 1970…at the FILLMORE EAST NYC and THE BAND OF GYPSYS – Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Miles and Billy Cox took the stage for what would become a legendary performance, a live album, Hendrix’s last full-length album before his death and in 1999 a documentary film.

Songs including “Power of Soul”, “Message to Love”, “Changes” (eventually becoming “Them Changes” after being re-recorded by Miles) and the iconic anti war/riot anthem “Machine Gun” helped propel the live recording of the show to #5 on the Billboard charts, a stay of 61 weeks in total, and at he time of his death became Hendrix’s best selling album in the US since “Are You Experienced”.

The Band Of Gypsys blended funk, rhythm & blues and rock, still highlighting Hendrix’s iconic guitar work and clearly taking his music in a new direction. They become the world’s first funk-rock fusion trio laying the groundwork for the genre, influencing generations of musicians to come and the course of modern music would never be the same.

KISS THE SKY is the #1 nationally and internationally touring Jimi Hendrix recreation show performing his stage moves with meticulously replicated wardrobe and gear. The show has received glowing accolades from former members of Hendrix’s bands, press, audiences and was dubbed “World’s Greatest” by AXS-TV. The part of Jimi Hendrix is played by NYC’s own left handed guitar virtuoso and Hendrix historian Jimy Bleu, who knows the Band Of Gypsys music intimately having toured with Hendrix bassist Billy Cox playing the groups groundbreaking music and the best of Hendrix.

The mission of KISS THE SKY is to faithfully recreate the live concert experience of Jimi Hendrix for those that were fortunate enough to see him and those that want to experience it as close as possible to the magic originally created by Hendrix at his shows.

Rolling Stone Magazine says: “Yes believe the hype! This show lives up to it!”

The show features 2 historic sets come to life.. the BAND OF GYPSYS and BEST OF featuring material from the CRY OF LOVE tour, deep cuts and extended jams performed exclusively in NYC at The Cutting Room! This will be part of an ongoing HENDRIX 50TH Anniversary (originally from 2020) special series of shows! Don’t miss HENDRIX RE-EXPERIENCED!!!!
