Through The Past… Lightly… Whose Catalog To Review Next?

With nothing better to do with my life, I’ve been reviewing some of my very favorite musicians on an album by album basis. I’ve completed Elvis Presley and Paul McCartney, and am working on Aretha Franklin, Curtis Mayfield, Frank Sinatra and Bay City Rollers (long story) and am wondering what to do the next time I have one completed? which will probably be Frank Sinatra, if I don’t let myself get bogged down in Greatest Hits packages… so who?

Gary Glitter – just to piss everybody else

David Bowie – I’ve written consumer guides to Bowie, but I haven’t done a deep dive

Deep Purple – definitely thinking of doing bands I’m not crazy about

Eminem – although he is mid-career, his albums could do with a sense of momentum

George Harrison – He is pretty easy for me because I always loved those Dark Horse albums anyway

Genesis – Sure, post- Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (and I mean post Peter Gabriel) will be a pain…

Jay-Z – This is the one I am thinking of most, it should be a trip but to where?

Lou Reed – If I go back as far as VU, it should be a tremendous trip to those 1990s great ones

Marc Bolan-T-Rex – I don’t know if it is positive or negative that I mostly know the hits

Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry – Hits me as an easy ride, plus I get the chance to review one of my favorite, little known albums, Mamouna

Ryan Adams – a little early but who knows

Sam Cooke – I’m a huge fan plus it is a good excuse to listen to those Gospel albums again

The Rolling Stones – if I  include the live albums I could spend years on em

Yo La Tengo – On a personal level, I’m stuck circa “Autumn Sweater” so let’s see what I’m missing
