Monopoly: The flip side of the free market economy is monopolies, it is where capitalism goes to die and becomes some form of economic fascism as nameless faceless companies price you to the last drop of blood imaginable. Now, Dow Chemical and DuPont Are Said to Be in Merger Talks. That would be a :120 Billion chemical company and the second largest in the world.

Live: In the mood for a gig, I was seriously considering going to see Mariah Carey but the bad taste in my mouth from the atrocious 2010 New Year’s Eve gig keeps putting me off. So how about the Peter Asher-Albert Lee gig? Guess I’m going home.

Recorded:Jeremih, who was up to to absolutely nothing when I saw him on stage earlier this year, had an album released the other day and I must admit to being relatively impressed by the featured smorgasbord. A solid, though unspectacular effort: B-

Sports: The Yanks austerity program is continuing apace, with a minor trade for the Cubs Starlin Castro for Adam Warren and a player to be named later. The 26 year old Starlin is a pretty good second baseman, and the Yanks are now officially just another team for the foreseeable future. Meanwhile, the Knicks were a mirage and the Rangers fell to earth, the Nets are nothing much, and neither the Jets nor the Giants have much of a chance to make it to the playoffs, let alone the Superbowl.

Secondary Market: Bruce already on Stubhub for a low of $250. More at Prudential.

A World United: There are three major religions, ok four, and one is Islam. Donald Trump has managed to unite the entire world -except for the KKK outlets in the Red States against him.Meanwhile, The Times claim he maybe able to do it legally…

Death: John Trundell dead at 68. According to Wikipedia John was a “Native American author, poet, actor, musician, and political activist. He was the spokesperson for the United Indians of All Tribes’ takeover of Alcatraz beginning in 1969, broadcasting as Radio Free Alcatraz. During most of the 1970s, he served as the chairman of the American Indian Movement, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.”
