These Days: Thursday, June 8th, 2017
Terrorism: “We grieve and pray for the innocent victims of the terrorist attacks in Iran, and for the Iranian people, who are going through such challenging times,. We underscore that states that sponsor terrorism risk falling victim to the evil they promote.” That’s Trump on the Isis attack in Tehran , which kinda speaks for itself in the annals of lousy timing loud mouths.
Sports: Sabathia shut em out and Red Sox Ace Rick Porcello, last year’s Cy Young winner, continues a lousy year. The result? An 8 – 0 shellacking! Two games in front of the Red Sox so even if the Sox win tonight, they won’t be in first place… The Mets won as well.
More Sports: Incredibly, the Warriors are up 3 – 0 and a game away from sweeping the Cavs and sweeping the Playoffs. Proof that a Durant and a Curry together beat a Lebron. Lebron might be a better player than Jordan, but Jordan always had a great team behind him.
Comey: I can’t stand this tall glass of water, I didn’t like what he did to Clinton and because of that I have serious doubts as to his treatment of Trump. If there is anything to seriously nail Trump here I will be surprised and if there isn’t Trump will probably float through his term.
Concerts: The Chainsmokers on Saturday and then… next week? Nick Cave, Tom Petty, and Neil Diamond. The aging white boys gig week.
Mass Transit: Begging the answer to one question: do I give up entirely on late night subway service? Once you hit midnight, it is very difficult to find a train line running properly.
New Music: A very good week for singles, Big Thief, DJ Khaled and Drake, Elton and Jack, Chuck Berry, Lorde (already big in my books after her terrific Governors Ball set), and even 2 Chainz released terrific songs.
Old Music: Well, not that old, but I’ve been on a steady diet of the Chainsmokers. Which leads me to the musical question… where is “Someone Just Like You” on Spotify’s One Love Manchester” compilation? Certainly a highlight.
And Speaking Of OneLove: How the hell did Justin Bieber blow “Love Yourself”???
