These Days: Thursday, December 24th, 2015

Christmas Eve Story: “I have had a chance to watch you for many, many days during the trial and now your appearance on this case and I have to say that you conducted yourself in an exemplary manner,” That’s Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Bruce Allen talking to 39 year old Louise Meanwell, who made the mistake of trying to blackmail Brian Cashman and will be in jail till she’s 44. Merry Christmas, Louise, apparently you’ve just learnt a lesson about the power of power.

The Beatles: I’m like a Rush fan when it comes to these guys, I am sure my friend Mark Pringle is right when he says Let It Be is the sound of a band imploding (though Abbey Road did come later), but I still can’t hear it.

The Novel: I am actually thinking of calling the novel “Memory Motel” now… it doesn’t really fit but I like it. I’ve written 400 pages and counting, I began it in May 2015, started the actual writing in July, havent missed a day and I figure it should be finished by 2017, ten years between novels!

Live: I have my eye on the Dixie Chicks at Madison Square Garden in 2016. Sales are very very soft and one reason is simple: they priced themselves out of the game. $100 once you include handling fees for the last row? Really?

Race For The Presidency: “Jeb Bush and Gov. Chris Christie, lagging in polls, have been telling the first-in-nation voters of their enormous responsibility to pick a candidate not named Donald J. Trump.” I really don’t see how Donald can win…

Odell Beckham: “A lot of kids look up to me as a role model. That is a responsibility I accept and I take seriously. Many of the parents of those kids have asked since Sunday what they should say to their children about my conduct. I don’t have the perfect answer, but I think one thing they can say is how I handled myself the other day is an example of how not to conduct yourself.”
