Live: I’ve had Marc Anthony in heavy rotation, eagerly awaiting tomorrow’s gig at Radio City Music Hall. I don’t follow Latin American music closely enough. in the 1990s it was a primary form of sound for me. Merengue was my go to default, and Salsa icons Celia Cruz and Tito Puente were filling MSG. It was a great time, but it was a passed time, and in the ensuing fifteen years, bachata and reggaeton simply haven’t filled the gap. Anthony, who first came into sharp view when he starred in Paul Simon’s “The Capeman”, that “Satin Summer Skys”. I’ve seen him several, though not many, times, and not this decade, so I am looking forward to renewing my acquaintance.
Recorded:I’ve had the Sherman and Sherman greatest hits in heavy rotation, because, yes, the one Disney movie that wasn’t a Disney movie, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” was written by the brothers, and everything else on this playlist (see below and play if you have Spotify). “The Jungle Book”, “Bedknobs and Broomsticks”, “Mary Poppins”, my beloved “The Aristocats”. Astonishing.
More Recorded: One more day!
The Race For The Presidency – What a disaster, Hillary Clinton’s ethics ethics problems is not a vast right wing conspiracy, it is pay to play at the highest level of government… but Donald Trump is not fit to be POTUS. ‘Tis a puzzlement, but better a politician as usual than a strongman in waiting…
Sports: I wonder if the Yanks can sneak into the playoffs, just a wildcard game would be fun… The Mets will probably make it but with all those injuries they aren’t going back to the World Series.
The World: Kim Jong-un Hails Firing of Submarine Missile as ‘Greatest Success’…? Feed your citizens, you fat, mass murdering, asshole.
