Death: Yeah, I know everyone dies but I was hoping for a special disposition for Maureen O’Hara, the lovely, fiery red head Irish rose foil to John Wayne. Remember “The Quiet Man”? And “McLintock”. And without Wayne, how about the perennial “Christmas On 34th Street”? Ooooooh, “The Parent Trap”!!!! What a pity she couldn’t have lived forever. Maureen was 95.
Recorded: The new Beach Slang (out next Friday) is first rate, and getting ready for Richard Lloyd (Bowery Electric next Friday), sent me back to Alchemy, a great album I’d forgotten.
Live: A quiet week but if I had the time and the money I’d make a move on Kinky Friedman.
Sports: This is some double dip folks. For the first time in too long, 1p Jets and 4pm Giants -good enough reason to hunker down in front of the TV all day. World Series fever is hitting New York hot, while the Yanks join Jeter in retirement.
The Race For The Presidency: “No ‘Saturday Night Live’ for Ben Carson: ‘The presidency of the United States is a very serious thing’ ” Oh, I don’t think so.
Black Lives Matter: “Every time I see a police officer, I get a cold chill. Even if I needed one, I wouldn’t call one.”
