05snl-2-superjumbo

Television: I am not a big fan of SNL but even so, it is indisputable that there is no one doing what SNL is doing today. They might be too stupid for satire and too hard for parody, but they are out their swinging. Last night, Melissa McCarthy’s Sean Spicer(the White House Press Secretary) was right on the money: “I know that myself and the press have gotten off to a rocky start. When I say rocky start, I mean it in the sense of Rocky, the movie, because I came out here to punch you in the face. And also I don’t talk so good.”

Sports: LET’S GO FALCONS. I am shivering and shaking in anticipation for the opportunity to change the conversation and how. What the US deserves right this minute is a really good game that the Falcons win and that Brady breaks a leg during by falling on his coach.

Live: How did Lady Gaga go from cutting edge to nostalgia act so quickly? It’s like she missed the entire middle portion of her career and just jumped into the U2 performing The Joshua Tree in its entirety. Having said that I have sky high hopes for her Super Bowl halftime performances, she should nail this one and save herself from being past it at 30.

New Music: Syd’s  Fin was my album of the week last Friday, it is a good album, very, brooding, lovely and clever. But, cmon, where are the damn tunes? You wanna save the world? Write better tunes. Otherwise, the deluxe edition of Tomas Doncker  The Mess We Made has five new tracks and we eagerly await its release in time for his debut at SXSW in March.

Old Music: I’ve had that old Scott Mackenzie song running through my head, I was actually listening to it in a dream. Here’s to different times.
