Supersititution: There is something strange about superstition, it gets under your skin and stays there. I have a ritual I perform on the first day of every month, and if I forget to say it I am convinced that I suffer through a lousy month. Bizarre, I know. So I will be extra careful today and hide under my desk till the horror day is over. This is like the movie, a date that feels all wrong. Apparently, it is the day Eve bit the apple from the Tree of Knowledge, and the great flood began.
The Second New Music Friday Of The Year: 2017 hasn’t really, really kicked in and it is still slim pickings. It is possible that a major change is a-coming where the singles are much more important that the albums: a flood of new songs for four minutes a-piece instead of the long, lugubrious working through one bad album after another.
The Obama Legacy: Lao Tzu:
““Do you want to improve the world?
I don’t think it can be done.
The world is sacred.
It can’t be improved.
If you tamper with it, you’ll ruin it.
If you treat it like an object, you’ll lose it.”
The Trump Nominees: What happens when you get the most redoubtable super-criminals on earth and hire em? And you still look so bad that they have to repudiate your opinions to get elected.
Weather: 61 degrees? Last week it was 3 degrees. Tomorrow it’s 36 degrees. Dress accordingly.
New Music: The new Wiley and new Ryan Adams? That’s two for 2017.
