These Days: Friday, April 21st, 2017

POTUS: “Sarah Palin, Kid Rock and Ted Nugent spent four hours in the White House, where they dined, took the grand tour and discussed foreign affairs with President Trump.” – So now Trump is surrounding himself with the only people dumber than he is. The thought of these jokers discussing foreign policy is hysterical. I mean, once they’ve all agreed to nuke North Korea, what did they do for the other three hours 59 minutes.

Theatre: “Hello, Dolly!” opened last night to raves from those who know so much better than I do (my review here). People of good faith, etc, however I can’t understand for a minute the raves for David Hyde Pierce’s Horace Vandergelder. Otherwise, OK, it maybe clicked a little better and yet again Ben Brantley is no Frank Rich. Every time I read Brantley I wonder if we saw the same production.

New Music: Ray Davies is the biggest disappointment, and Texas as  great a pleasure as you could hope for. Procol Harum celebrate their 50th anniversary, all part of a weak week.

Old Music: Give My Regards To Broad Street for Paulie, Planet Earth for Prince and Elvis (Fool) for Presley. Meanwhile, I have been listening to the four and a half hour Bitches Brew.

Arkansas Executes Its First Inmate in More Than a Decade: is it worth mentioning he is a black man…

Sports: “I will say I have never done what I have been accused of doing. I have no reason nor have I had any reason to do anything of that nature. I have done nothing wrong and I have nothing to hide, and I know when this is done everyone will see it the same way.”
