The UK’s Top Man rapper Dizzie Rascal To Play Music Hall Of Williamsburg This May

Some superstars of pop music don’t always cross the Atlantic, Paul Weller is the most obvious example, they are too English, too other, but who knows why, right?

This is doubly true with English hip hop, I would have bet the rent Tinie Tempeh would be huge in the US and yet no, he really isn’t. With the Grime scene it is even sadder, quite a few names worth paying attention to, but with the exception of Wiley (maaaaaybe), Dizzee Rascal is the top.

The thing is, Dizzee has the skills of a top MC, of an A$AP Rocky, but he has the attitude and, indeed, accent of an English guy. To those who don’t know, it is a little like been rapped to by Harry Potter, only with lot more bottle, but once you go in deep, he really has both skills, and a keen eyed political fury, that has keep him near the top of the UK charts for the past decade. Along with the sex and violence.

Grime is a powerful hard drum and bass sound, everything sounds like it might fall apart and doesn’t, unlike the Council estate Dizzee was raised on, the UK version of projects.

Dizzee is performing his debut album Boy at Da Corner at Music Hall Of Williamsburg , Friday May 7 th, it is essentially unmissable. this is the musical equivalent of event programing.
