The Stones, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish: Three Nights In June (2019)

Sometimes, the fates give the metropolitan area a run of concerts to remember: if only it was a thursday, friday, saturday. But whatever it might be, it amounts to be a three day run better than the entire Governors Ball combined: the greatest rock and roll band in the world followed by the biggest star of 2019, followed by the child of Lorde breakthrough teen girl phenom….

Monday – June 17th – The Rolling Stones at MetLife – If they are half as great as they were at T-Mobile in Vegas in 2016 (here), they will remain true to the words of the poet: if you don’t love the Stones, you don’t love rock

Tuesday – June 18th – Ariana Grande At Madison Square Garden – I caught her two years ago (here) at the same venue and wrote “For the three girls with me, taking pictures and videos, texting their friends, singing on the top of their lungs and screaming just as loud, it was all that and more: it was a pop dream come to life.” But that was before manchester, before Sweetener, before Mac Miller died, Pete Davidson break up, and, of course, “Thank U, Next”

Wednesday – June 19th – Billie Eilish At Radio City Music Hall – OR: King Princess for teen breeders. The biggest star for the teen set around, the personification of teen angst, at the biggest moment of her life. I love musicians when they’ve just leaped through to the upper echelons. They are so thrilled.

It will be the biggest three day span of 2019.
