The Media Got Mary Lou Lord’s Angry Rants All Wrong

Three days ago, I wrote about Mary Lou Lord and the anger she unleashed on Courtney Love all over her Facebook page, some cathartic rage, as she said, after staying so quiet about the subject for 26 years… she had the support of all her fans and the discussion went on for a few days, but I bet she didn’t expect this to be all over the news a few days later!
Today there were articles about Mary Lou Lord’s angry rants in every news publication you can imagine, it was on Spin, Radio.com, Loudwire, Diffuser.fm, The Inquisitr, Gigwise, Exclaim!, Alternative Nation, Globalnews, even Billboard had one! I bet it will be on NME and Rolling Stone websites tomorrow, or may be they missed the boat. This is the problem with the Internet crazy snowball, once it’s out it’s all over the place, and it’s rarely accurate.
I can’t go through all these articles, but there is a huge problem when comments are reported and reported and reported… misinterpretation occurs, and lies spread faster than fire. People rarely go back to the source and once one of them gets it all wrong, the lies are hard to erase.
Alternative Nation partially corrected its misinterpretation during the evening, changing its title from ‘Kurt Cobain’s Ex-Girlfriend Believes He Was Murdered: ‘F**k You Courtney Love!’ to ‘Kurt Cobain’s Ex-Girlfriend: ‘F**k You Courtney Love!’, because they probably realized they got it totally wrong in the first place. But they were not the only ones, ‘Mary Lou Lord, Kurt Cobain’s ex, believes he was murdered, lashes out at Courtney Love’, wrongly wrote GlobalNews…
Mary Lou Lord never said this and if these people had taken the time to browse through her different comments they should have seen she repeatedly said ‘I’m not entirely on the bandwagons of “justice for Kurt” or anything like that, I’m just saying, that I think it would be cathartic, and it is time for the people (not Kurt) that Courtney totally fucked over,’… ‘Again, I am not on the parade of “justice for Kurt” folks….I am simply wanting to let GO of my own demons and sad weirdness that I was never allowed to express fully back then’
But Mary should have known that the media doesn’t read thoroughly and would be too happy to precisely push her in this bandwagon, after all she also repeatedly brought her support to Tom Grant: ‘And although I never sided up with Tom, and stayed out of all of it over the years , I want him to know I am on his side, to at least find out the truth.’
So it is easy to see why sloppy journalism would end up doing the amalgam,… Mary says she supports Tom, she bashes Courtney Love,… so of course she thinks Kurt Cobain was murdered! Not so fast, and Mary Lou Lord wasn’t ready to stop being angry this week, she gotmad at the media misinterpreting of her raging comments, and this time, she could be ready to attack them for defamation
‘Bring it bitches. But do not say I said that SHE had anything to do with his death,….or, I will file, and file and file…..Be careful bitches.’ she wrote on her Facebook page on Thursday evening… ‘To the click bait social medias with a name. Please be careful. We are monitoring you, and you might want to change your headline and your language regarding what YOU said I said, but Never did SAY it. Libel? Keep that in mind. You are all walking a very fine line here.’… ‘I understand and love the first amendment, but you’ve got to get it right, and not cross the line. It’s criminal and again a defamation of character to spin someone’s words out of context for your own agenda. Don’t do this. It might be fun for you today to get a fish on your click bait, but in 5 months, I will have the documents of your libel, and potentially fuck you up. Head’s up dip shits.’
Obviously many fans would also like to see her join the Justice for Kurt movement, however, Mary is not ready for this, so leave her alone and let her decide for herself.
