People claim Jennifer Lawrence acts with her eyes, but they mean she pouts with her eyes and anyway, with the camera right up her nostril what is she expected to act with? The truth is, here at the finishing end of the Hunger Games, she is still the mopiest actress on the earth, and she is the leader of a rebellion against the Capital? She couldn’t lead me to the 7-11 for a slurpee.
Here is the Hunger Games for dummies. Ready? This is a post apocalyptic dystopian YA future somewhere in the Appalachian Mountains known as the nation of Panem where the Capitol run the districts and have instigated a “Hunger Game” -13 districts ruled over by the brutal President Snow (Donald Sutherland) play an annual game where “tributes” are randomly chosen two per district for a fight to the death till there is one survivor. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer), of the poorest District 12, volunteers to take her kid sister’s places, Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) , the baker who is secretly in love with her, is the other tribute and her boyfriend Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) stays at home to take over the family.
In the first movie, Katniss and Peeta refuse to kill each other in the games and both win. In movie two, they are forced back in the game with the other winners over the years and it ends abruptly when the rebellion saves them. In movie three Peeta is brainwashed and here we are at movie four, and since I disliked the first three movie I sure didn’t think there was much chance of me liking the ending. And there wasn’t for the most part..
In Movie Four, Katniss are on the road for two hours to reach the Capitol and assassinate Snow, lots of deaths along the way. The end of the war is an attack on women and children outside the games of the Capitol, which leads to everybody joining the rebellion and that just about does it for Snow. However, once you get past that, the last half hour is kinda good, everything is wrapped up tight, war is hell, the good guys win for the most part and just like Harry Potter and Twilight, you could a very satisfying flash forward to close it all down.
So, as a non fan, I think they left the best for last and since I just saved you seven hours of your life, catch the last episode.
