I never met Adam Roth. I know of his work. He played in the Boston-based Del Fuegos, a highly respected and great band from the 80’s and later. He also did soundtrack guitar work for Denis Leary’s “Rescue Me” and “Sex & Drugs& Rock & Roll”. He was also in many New York City based projects and a well-respected composer…
He must have had a great sense of humor to be best friends with Denis Leary. When he passed away this week from cancer at 57, I was taken aback by the amount of praise and sorrow and respect for this man. He touched a lot of lives in the short amount of time that he was here. My heart goes out to the ones he left behind…and to my FB friends on the east coast that played with him and hung with him. May he truly rest in peace. You guys were all enriched to have had the pleasure of his friendship. We aren’t around here very long folks, so appreciate those around you…
Like I mentioned to Iman Lababedi, the good ones often seem to begin the journey before we want them to. I painted this portrait in oil. I am not sure why but oil tends to give a painting more of a real life look. Adam deserved oil. (The picture I used for reference can be found on his website. I do not know who gets credit for taking the picture. I apologize for this.) For this painting, I wanted to show movement …that his journey to the next plane of existence has begun. It is almost a “2001 A Space Odyssey” effect. It seems to me that once we leave this bodily vessel, the next stop will be one of brilliance, colors and light.
To all of Adam’s friends’, my heartfelt love to you…He will surely be missed by all..Adam Roth RIP, sir.
