That Was The Week That Was: June 17th, 2016

2992

Live: Off the disappointing Dolly Parton gig, I am readying myself for the Stone Roses, one of the most exciting gigs coming up in the immediate summer. I have never seen the Stone Roses in concert, but have no doubt why they are worshipped in the UK.

Recorded: I’ve been listening to the new Mitski and Prince and Presley but otherwise nothing much is capturing my attention.

Brexit: Opponents want a mulligan! That is kinda funny, right? The entire thing is kinda funny, it feels like something big though it really isn’t. is it? If this is a working class revolution, where is the revolt and who is revolting? And why now?

Does Length Matter: In 2016, is 40 minutes too long for even the best artists? I mean for an album, of course, can we not be trusted to pay attention for such a length of time in an entertainment field where the options have become simply, relentlessly, infinite.  Who has the time to invest in product, often mediocre product?

Harry Potter: In the process of considering a one day trip to London to see Harry Potter Parts One and Two… expensive but even so…

Sports: USA lost to Columbia for fourth place in the Copa Americaine, while Argentina seemed to be a team of destiny but lost to Chili on penalty kicks.
