That Was The Week That Was: October 5th, 2015
Sports: So that’s it for another season, the Yanks got a hammering 0 – 3 from the Astros and limped back to their vacation like whipped poodles. This is the third season they haven’t made the playoffs, and they haven’t won a world series in FIFTEEN YEARS. The Steinbrenners have forgotten his father’s cardinal rule: winning is the only thing. The Mets are 1 – 1, so now its a best of three with home field advantage.
Recorded: A pretty good week, three great box sets, Georgie Fame And The Blue Flames, the Five Satins, and the Small faces, and one of the best country albums of the Year, Toby Keith’s first rate 35 MPH Town.
Live: A rarity for me, not a single concert mostly because the symphonic Dr. Who got cancelled.
Death: Gail Zappa, Frank Zappa’s wife and keeper of the flame, died at 70 years of age. Billy Joe Royal, he sang “Down In The Boondocks”, and “Hush”, dead at 73.
Politics: Does NO ONE want to be the Speaker Of The House? Pay me enough, I’ll do it.
