That Was The Week That Was: November 16th, 2015

Syrian children march in the refugee camp in Jordan. The number of Children in this camp exceeds 60% of the total number of refugees hence the name "Children's camp". Some of them lost their relatives, but others lost their parents.

The Syrian Refugees: This is taken from the Holocaust Museum site: “Acutely aware of the consequences to Jews who were unable to flee Nazism, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum looks with concern upon the current refugee crisis. While recognizing that security concerns must be fully addressed, we should not turn our backs on the thousands of legitimate refugees. The Museum calls on public figures and citizens to avoid condemning today’s refugees as a group. It is important to remember that many are fleeing because they have been targeted by the Assad regime and ISIS for persecution and in some cases elimination on the basis of their identity.”  This marks the first major Jewish organization that has made the connection.

Sports: So are the Kicks for real at 8 – 6? It sure feels like a relief after last years debacle and even if it is a trick they do with tall guys and lucky shots, it won’t take much for them to have a better year than 2014. AND even if that is a small blessing, it is at least a step in the right direction, isn’t it? Meanwhile, New Yorkers are trying to find a Knickname for Kristaps Porzingis. Surely, any contraction will do, right?  The Jets are in free fall…  again.

Recorded: The new Foo Fighters has just dropped and I’d like to drop a brick on it… this is the worst rock band on earth… “Saint Cecilia” is almost there but not there, the rest is unlistable.

Live: Angel Haze tonight at SOBs and then half the indie bands on earth at the Ground Control gig, next Wednesday. Should make for an interesting week because last week I missed ELO and Adele. Looking at the tape, I’d go with with ELO.

Middle East: Russia are blowing ISIS to smithereens, racists in the US want Syrian refugees to be documented by religion… welcome to the end of history.
