That Was The Week That Was: March 21st, 2016

Terrorism: A bomb exploded in Pakistan yesterday: “A suicide bomber set off a powerful blast close to a children’s swing set in a public park on Sunday evening in the eastern city of Lahore, killing at least 69 people and wounding around 300”, A Taliban splinter group accepted responsibility and they were targeting the Christian minority.  This in the face of the Brussels Airport attack.

More Terrorism: An article in the Times today claims there are no telltale signs for who will become a terrorist. Yes, young male, but background, income, all that stuff appears to make no difference whatsoever. It feels more like a “meme” or maybe when you become obsessed with a woman for no reason whatsoever…

Live: Today is back to Bruce, and the Bowie tribute on Thursday, last week I saw a disappointing Lake Street Dive and everybody caught LCD Soundsystem and the Stones in Cuba. If I could get Bonnie Raitt for $50 I might go next Saturday… but I can’t so…

Recorded: Man, that “Famous” is a terrific song. Great to hear it so far out of context… The Life Of Pedro is now up to 19 tracks on Tidal. Otherwise, I’ve been listening to Azealia Banks again. A ton of great singles was released last week, did you notice?

Death: Such a shame we lost Garry Shandling, makes you think, right? It has been a surreal year for celebrity death. There seems no reason for this influx of croaking, from Lemmy to Glenn Frey to Garry and beyond.
