That Was The Week That Was: February 8th, 2016

Deep Freeze: How cold was it over the last two days? The only thing to do with a weekend like that is hibernate. Luckily I had the new Kanye to help lift the burden though, truly, zero boredom between writing, listening, and lots of sleeping! Meanwhile, god help the homeless in this weather. Not to have a place to call your own and keep warm? What a nightmare.

Death: The entire indie rock band Viola Beach died in a car accident over the weekend. An unimaginable tragedy for all concerned. There is a movement to get “Swings And Waterslides”, another fine song, to the top of the charts in the UK.

More Death: Antonin Scalia’s death is setting up a huge battle where congress is going to stonewall any successor to the Supreme Court till Hillary gets in power.

Recorded: When I haven’t been listening to the new Kanye, I have been listening to the new Chris Maxwell (Steve Crawford told you about it here).

Rock criticism: I swear Kanye brings out the best in American rock critics, both Pitchfork and the New York Times and Salon, published terrific reviews The Life Of Pablo. My guess is a press release is imperative to properly review it, there is too much going on, but having said that, people who love sound love Kanye.

Movies: Deadpool made an insane amount of money $135M, over the weekend. Worth seeing? Not so fast…

Sports: The UK in first place in the Rugby World Cup -no, that isn’t a typo. On another front, time for catchers and pitchers…
