Taylor Swift Is An Alt-Right Icon And She Is Not Doing Anything About It?

You probably have heard about alt-right leader Richard Spencer confessing his love for Depeche Mode, and declaring the band ‘the official band of the alt-right’… and you have probably have heard about Depeche Mode replying by a very direct ‘Richard Spencer is a cunt’. However, this one-side love-one-side-hatred affair doesn’t prevent the extreme right to embrace some of our most beloved characters of mainstream pop culture….

According to Melmagazine, Taylor Swift, our most popular pop star of the moment, equally beloved by herds of teenagers, Iman and Ryan Adams, yes, that Taylor Swift, is a alt-right icon.

Ex-senior editor of Breitbart news Milo Yiannopoulos wrote a post about Taylor Swift on Breitbart news last year, using the provocative title ‘Taylor Swift is an Alt-Right Pop Icon’, which made me scratch my head trying to find any connection: if Taylor is not political at all, this is a woman who hangs out with liberal feminist millennials like Lena Dunham… so what’s the deal?

And he goes on and on, explaining that ‘Swift is very white and very blonde’ who ‘grew up in, a Christmas tree farm in rural Pennsylvania’, and he even attempts to explain that Swift ‘doesn’t go in for racial ambiguity’, since she started as ‘a country star’, ‘a genre typically associated with white southern conservatives’… also, Taylor is a conservative who never shows her belly button (and that must be a proof she is a nazi) but above everything, she once performed at the Republican National Convention. So there is this Swift double game ‘concealing her secret conservative values from the progressive music industry while issuing subtle nods to a reactionary fanbase’.

But the nail of on Taylor-is-a-cool-liberal coffin came form her videos ‘mocking black culture’, for including hip hop tropes in her music video for ‘Shake It Off’, and for playing a colonial Barbie in ‘Wildest Dreams’. Remember the controversy, the backlash then? Yeah that was just a crazy insensible and ridiculous vision of Africa, but that was just a video, and after all Karen Blixen was the first one to romanticize colonial attitudes, and ‘Out of Africa’ won 7 Academy Awards!

But do yourself a favor, google Taylor Swift and Hitler quotes and you will find plenty of sites attributing Hitler’s quotes to Taylor Swift! The Daily Dot already pointed this out a few years ago… Plus, there are several Facebook groups with memes like ‘Taylor Swift for Fascist Europe’… ‘Taylor Swift for a fascist America’,… and I will not link any of these sites (very easy to find anyway), because it’s just plain disgusting.

I knew about the video controversy but I was not aware of the extent of her popularity with the alt-right and the fascist movement, and it goes way beyond the Camille Paglia’s ‘obnoxious Nazi Barbie’ meme…. However, Taylor Swift never says a word about politics, she never told whom she voted for, which triggered the Taylor-for-Trump clickbaits on Fake News sites. Actress Lola Kirke recently criticized the pop singer for not using her fame to discuss politics.

At the end, I seriously doubt Taylor Swift is a racist and a fascist but I don’t understand her silence. If I were as rich as she is, I would pay people to search the internet and take down any page associating my image with something racist, it’s not difficult to report a Facebook group, even if it may come back as soon as it was put down. This Aryan goddess meme is crazy and she won’t fight it? A few lawsuits would calm down this people for a while! For me, Swift is at best a manipulative bitch, who would not take any risk for fear of losing any of her fans. Declaring yourself a feminist is one thing, but not saying a word about Trump cancels the whole deal.
