I’m glad to catch up with you, and wish you a Happy Summer, or…whatever is left of it! I have found this current summer to be surreal and mysterious, and the encroaching feeling of Autumn only seems to be deepening this feeling. I hope that you have been been content and surefooted with your days, despite this season of retrogrades…

I myself have been working on something, namely, this new song Bunny & Grudge, just released! I’d like to share some behind-the-scenes info for this newsletter….first, the album art (see above) is film photo taken in East LA during my visit last summer. I thought this photo fit the world of the characters Bunny & Grudge, and loosely set the scene for this dramatic, character-driven duet. I also thought the film image captured a feeling that was classic, somewhat vintage, or out of time.

Yes, it’s a duet! I guess now duets are referred to commonly as “features.” I was honored to have singer Sylvana Joyce (leader of her band, Sylvana Joyce & the Moment) to sing on this song. She contributed fantastic vocals, and great feeling to the drama of this song. I hope you’ll take a listen to this piece which was refined and tweaked over time, from the vocal delivery, to the vocal arrangement, to the production.
