Amanda Shires, For Christmas
Courtney Barnett, Things Take Time, Take Time – an acquired taste I never got around to acquiring, it helps if you thought “Avant Gardener” was a clever pun, though the last single was OK
DaBaby, BACK ON MY BABY JESUS SHIT. AGAIN – has he been forgiven yet?
Damon Albarn, The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows – quite possibly the most boring solo artist known to man
Dave Gahan & Soulsavers, Imposter – not the worst idea the Depeche Mode frontman has ever had
Gov’t Mule, Heavy Load Blues – should live up to its name
Idles, Crawler – ready for their close up
Jason Aldean, Macon
Joell Ortiz, Autograph – the Slaughter guys “In My Feelings” is a true worthy
Jon Hopkins, Music For Psychedelic Therapy
Lee Ranaldo, In Virus Times – the no longer sonic youth
Little Mix, Between Us – Spice Girls if Spice Girls lacked character
Pip Blom, Welcome Break
Rod Stewart, The Tears of Hercules – the album name is crap but the songs I’ve heard are all fine
Taylor Swift, Red (Taylor’s Version) – Red might not have been Taylor’s best album (I would toggle between Fearless and Speak Now) but it has one of her greatest songs, “State Of Grace” and the tour (I’ve seen all of them) was her best, in the process of graduating from Arenas to Stadiums, she came through town twice and the Prudential set in 2013 (here) was the final time (except for Jingle Ball appearances of course) we saw her in such a (relatively) small room. The truth is, you can’t get enough of Red every which way, it was where she got the pop balance right – MOST ANTICIPATED OF THE WEEK
