Comment: A quiet week after the sturm and drang of Arcade Fire and the Fall last week, the most anticipated of the week boils down to two releases, and I don’t include Neil Young here because, frankly, I am tired of his new albums since 2012’s Psychedelic Pill. Also, no A$AP Twelvy because the only A$AP i like is Rocky, and he was none existence as part of A$AP Mob, no Dan Wilson, though I would be interested if he takes a run at “Someone Like You” which he-wrote. No The Weeknd because they are all remixes. That leaves us with Bret Eldredge, who has released single after single for his upcomer, and good none great, and Randy Newman, who, when he acts like a grown-up and what I’ve heard sounds like business as usual and, when Randy is being a grown up, that’s enough to make it the most highly anticipated of the week. Dark Matter is Randy’s first album in nine years and, in a sure sign of the times, had to pay for it himself.
