Goldenvoice has announced the return of Cruel World Festival taking place Saturday, May 20 at Brookside at The Rose Bowl in Pasadena… and the lineup, headlined by Siouxsie, Iggy Pop, is glorious! This will be Siouxsie’s first North American performance in 15 years, which makes the ticket price ($159 and up) completely worth it. “Mantaray,” the English singer’s last work and first solo album was released in September 2007, and her last live show was in 2013 for Yoko Ono’s Meltdown festival, at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
Siouxsie covered “The Passenger” written by Iggy Pop, so it makes sense for these two to share the same day. Iggy has also scheduled three shows in April around Los Angeles, at the Regent, the Palladium, and the Orpheum, so, with this new date in May, we will get a lot of Iggy in 2023.
Last year, Morrissey, Bauhaus, Blondie, and Devo were the headliners and it was a tough choice… I remember sacrificing Blondie to be front row for Morrissey, Bauhaus, and Devo. Let’s hope that Iggy and Siouxsie will play on the same stage but I fear it won’t be the case.
Furthermore, Love and Rockets are making a grand return to the stage as the band last performed together in 2008. Cruel World will also feature performances by Billy Idol, Adam Ant, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Human League, and many more! See the complete lineup below.
