Sinead O’Connor: ‘Arsenio Hall Was Prince’s Bitch’

Sinead O’ Connor

Sinead O’ Connor is far from being the sanest person on earth, she has a long struggle with mental illness, a series of social media meltdowns and even a suicide attempt not very long ago, so why would anyone take anything she says into consideration? Just because it’s a good and juicy story I guess?

As everyone knows, Sinead had a worldwide hit with Prince’s ‘Nothing compares 2 U’, back in 1990, and a few days ago, she suddenly decided to give her opinion about Prince’s death, taking on her official Facebook page, and, out of the blue, accusing Arsenio Hall of the worst:

‘Two words for the DEA investigating where prince got his drugs over the decades…. Arsenio Hall (AKA Prince’s and Eddie Murphy’s bitch) Anyone imagining prince was not a long time hard drug user is living in cloud cuckoo land. Arsenio I’ve reported you to the Carver County Sherrif’s office. Expect their call. They are aware you spiked me years ago at Eddie murphy’s house. You best get tidying your man cave.’

Arsenio Hall? When was the last time we heard about him? Also in the 90’s I guess, a time period in which Sinead’s mind is very probably stuck forever. And despite the craziness of the accusation, which, needless to say, comes without any evidence, the press seized on the story as expected. Of course Arsenio hall’s camp has denied the whole thing and rep Traci Harper said that O’Connor’s claims were ‘absolutely false, ridiculous and absurd.’

Sinead did have a tumultuous relationship with Prince, and according to the Independent, she told about it to a Norwegian station NRK, about 2 years ago: ‘I did meet him a couple of times.  We didn’t get on at all.  In fact we had a punch-up.’… ‘He summoned me to his house after ‘Nothing Compares’.  I made it without him.  I’d never met him.  He summoned me to his house – and it’s foolish to do this to an Irish woman – he said he didn’t like me saying bad words in interviews.  So I told him to f*** off.’… ‘He got quite violent.  I had to escape out of his house at 5 in the morning.  He packed a bigger punch than mine.’

Of course the part about Prince being a long time addict – ‘Anyone imagining prince was not a long time hard drug user is living in cloud cuckoo land’ – could be revealed to be true, but the fact there’s some truth in Sinead’s declaration doesn’t make the whole thing accurate. All the websites which copied and pasted Sinead’s accusation, may have checked what she added a day later, and if you can make sense of this rant, it seems that Sinead has an old grudge against Arsenio.
