See Mike Love’s Beach Boys for the Price Of A Movie Ticket

Photo Credit: Udo Spreitzenbarth – The Line Up: Mike Love, Bruce Johnston, Scott Totten, John Cowsill, Brian Eickenberger, Tim Bonhomme, Jeffrey Foskett

I know what you’re thinking: if all Mike can pay me is $15 why should I go? Well, I’ve got bad news, you are paying him the $15 from Groupon for a $50 seat at King’s Theatre on Tueday, February 9th, 2016 and you should go for the exact same reasons I am going.

1 – Until Brian Wilson lends me a tenner, I don’t owe him squat. Sure, the Beach Boys I saw at the Beacon will have been much better than Mike Love’s. However, so what. The closest Brian got to us on last year’s Greatest Hits tour was Jones Beach.

2 – Ugh, Mike Love. But how ugh?

Because I say: FIFTEEN BUCKS, my God it cost me more than that to see Star Wars (A movie, last time I looked) and while this is maybe just a facsimile of the band we know and love, the songs are so terrific how can he go wrong, right?

Here is the deal:

The Deal
•$15 for one G-Pass for rows D–M in sections 10–15 (up to $50 value)
•$25 for one G-Pass for rows AA–II in sections 4–8 (up to $60.25 value)

How G-Pass Works: Your G-Pass will be ready to print 48 hours after the deal ends. Print the G-Pass and use it to enter the venue directly; you won’t need to redeem at will call. Due to security restrictions, G-Passes cannot be redeemed through the Groupon mobile app. Discount reflects the merchant’s current ticket prices – price may differ on day of event.

The Beach Boys
•54: the number of years that The Beach Boys have been catching waves of melody
•3: the number of “Of Fames” that have inducted The Beach Boys—the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
•12: The Beach Boys’ ranking on Rolling Stone’s list of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”
•Beach Boys classics you’ll likely hear: “Good Vibrations,” “Surfin’ Safari,” “I Get Around,” “Fun, Fun, Fun”
•Beach Boys classic you won’t hear: “Surf City”
•Why not?: Because it’s a Jan and Dean song
•Which golden-era Beach Boys are performing?: Mike Love and Bruce Johnston
•New Beach People providing backup: Tim Bonhomme, Randell Kirsch, Scott Totem, John Cowsill (of ’60s family band The Cowsills), Christian Love (of Mike Love’s loins)
•Red: the color travel agents’ faces get after repeatedly telling insistent customers that there are no flights to “Kokomo”
