Rock ‘N Fashion: A Benefit for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles At Lucky Strike, Friday March 10th 2017

Lucky Strike, the upscale bowling alleys located at the core of Hollywood, was hosting a night of rock and fashion for a great cause, the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and a lot of young actors, fashion designers and musicians showed up for the cause, while two bands rocked inside the club, covering classics and songs of their own.
On the Red Carpet, I got the chance to see young musicians and actors Drew Mac, Andrew James Allen and Arthur Yoria (on Facetime), actress Naomi Grossman (American Horror Story), designer Oneita Parker, ‘How to Girl’ model Courtney Sixx (Nikki Sixx’s wife), model and author Rachel McCord and husband Rick Schirmer, Kaptain Celebrity Designs, actor Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre), actor Elissa Dowling (We are Still Here), singer-songwriter and actor Reeve Carney, X Factor’s Fifth Harmony Ally Brooke, actress Saxon Sharbino (Poltergeist), Brighton Sharbino (the Walking Dead), James Anderson (NFL player) and Carissa Rosario (Maxim Magazine)…. I may have skipped a few names, I was able to recognize very few of these people, due to my lack of TV series watching and mainstream pop culture interest, but the ambiance was very Hollywood glamor, and I noticed spots reserved for Getty images and Hollywood photos on the red carpet. Was I really invited to this thing?
Inside the very cool and fancy Lucky Strike bowling alleys, people were able to enter a silent auction for a chance to win very limited-edition merchandise (apparel & accessories) from the industry’s most sought after brands, whereas the ultimate VIP ‘Rock N’ Fashion’ experience was offering a private cocktail reception with an exclusive art showing from artists, Laurent Proneur, Ralph Rieckermann and Thrashbird… I went there by mistake and got to see a few of these works of art.
There’s no doubt about it, The Anatomy, a new band formed by friends Barry Pointer (Methods of Mayhem) on guitar, Jason Womack (Fuel, Juliette & The Licks) on bass, Todd Morse (The Offspring, Juliette & The Licks, H2O) on vocals, Sean Winchester (Everclear) on drums, and Kemble Walters (Aeges, Juliette & The Licks) on guitar, rocked hard, very hard. Drawing inspiration from many iconic groups such as Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz and Stone Temple Pilots, they delivered a real rock show, with a lot of leg kicking and guitar roaring, while singer Todd Morse was getting into his rock frontman role with plenty of conviction. It was high energy from start to finish, and they covered a few classics like Stone Temple Pilots (‘Unglued’), David Bowie (Suffragette City’) or Tom Petty (‘American Girl’), between their own songs. I think they said they would be releasing an album soon … At the same time, models were walking on a runway in front of the stage, showing this season’s new looks from top designers, and I guess it was a major distraction from the music and the band, because these girls were models, the very thin, very tall, very pretty type!
After the Anatomy, Bitch, another superband featuring an increasing number of musicians, took the stage to continue the covers, like The VU’s ‘White Light/White Heat’, T Rex’s ‘20th Century Boy’ and ‘Children of the Revolution’, The Stones’ ‘Jumpin Jack Flash’ and ‘Miss You’, Neil Young’s ‘Cinnamon Girl’ and many others. It was a series of greatest hits for the Hollywood crowd with Rami Jaffee (Foo Fighters, Wallflowers) on keyboard, Jessy Greene (Foo Fighters, Pink) on violin, Christopher Thorn (Blind Melon) on guitar, Mario Calire (Wallflowers, Ozomatli) on drums, Jonny Kaplan (Jonny Kaplan and the Lazy Stars) on vocals, and Joe Ayoub (Liz Phair, Enrique Iglesias). The stage got more and more crowded with a few successive additions, like Jimmy Ashhurst (Buckcherry) and Craig Ross (Lenny Kravitz), plus a grand finale with saxophone and flute during the Stones’ ‘Miss You’, and Todd Morse even come back during this one. When musicians meet they jam and jam,… they obviously had as much pleasure covering the classics than the crowd had while watching them. It was the rock experience for the Hollywood elite, a relaxing evening in an upscale place, but still, it was for a great cause.
