Producer L.A. Reid Reveals A Few Details About Michael Jackson

Famous music producer L.A. Reid is on tour to promote his new book ‘Sing to Me’, and despite a disastrous Reddit AMA on Tuesday, during which Reid repeatedly said to fans to buy his book, a few juicy excerpts have leaked in the press and all of them concern Michael Jackson.

When L.A. Reid and Babyface were about to work with Jermaine Jackson, Michael immediately approached them saying he wanted to work with them, and this didn’t sit well with Jermaine:

‘I want to make a song about my brother,’ said Jermaine according to Reid. ‘I want to talk about how he’s treated me through the years, like how every time I find producers like you guys, he takes my producers. He doesn’t care about his family or anybody but himself.’ Which sure translated some real sibling rivalry.

Reid also said they had to sign nondisclosure agreement as ‘Nobody got to see Michael without signing one,’

Jackson was also delighted to make fun of his main rival, Prince, having technical difficulties. Reid remembers a time when Jackson put on footage of Prince having some real problems and laughing at his expense:

‘Prince [couldn’t] make his guitar work, frantically stripping off his shirt and trying tricks with the microphone stand and making all these poses. After Michael’s dazzling star turn, Prince fell as flat as he could, and Michael enjoyed laughing at the video. …

‘After that, he put on a scene from Prince’s movie Under the Cherry Moon, the artsy black-and-white bomb he made after Purple Rain, and he laughed some more at Prince.’

So MJ was not the caring gentle character he was portraying on screen? Instead he was a calculated, competitive and envious persona who was making fun of his peers? What a surprise!

‘That Michael Jackson was one shrewd man,’ Reid wrote.’He was not wrong, but you didn’t expect that from Peter Pan. You expect a little compassion or something. No. Cold as ice.’

Of course, it’s easy to trash Jackson now that he is dead, I haven’t read the book, but these excerpts sure look like good baits for gossip lovers, and who doesn’t like some good gossips?

This would not be in print if MJ were alive. Reid be to busy kissing MJ’s ass. This book will not be on my bookshelf
