So yeah, let’s admit we’ve all heard the return to Graceland form buzz emanating, mostly fro Paul himself. But is it? More like The Rhythm Of The Saints though there is no “Born At The Right time” but the comparison is mostly because unlike ay album since those two these sound as though they are based from the beats upwards. As are these… for the most parts.
A quick spin for now and I appreciate how he uses EDM the way he used the drummers of South Africa. The name on the tip of your tongue today is Italian electronic artist Clap! Clap!. Who he? Well… I don’t know much but he isn’t a pop guy, instead he is all and I mean essentially about rhythm and electronic beats which he seems to consider a huge playground.
As for Stranger Than Strange? It hits me as a typical 21st Century Simon album, three or so great songs and a lot of not great songs. They sound like “I Know What I Know” only not as good. And sure this is a kneejerk review, I haven’t given it much time, I haven’t spent much time but what I have only one track hits me as first rate. “Wristband” -the early single sure grew on me, so maybe…
