New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Calls Bruce Springsteen A Tax Evader… Something We Told You Four Years Ago

Here is Chris Christie discussing Bruce Springsteen with The Atlantic earlier this week: “Farmer my ass – to get lower property taxes in New Jersey, he’s a farmer.”

I wrote extensively about Bruce Springsteen the farmer in 2012, despite some very real threats from his fans. This sort of stuff, starting with a quote from the NME:

He gets into economic justice quite a bit. It’s very rock’n’roll. He feels it’s the angriest album he’s ever made. The Boss’ wrote and recorded the majority of the album before the Occupy movements started around the world so he’s not just setting headlines to music.”

I lost over 30% of my gross income in the past four years and of all the things I wanna hear, Bruce Springsteen’s opinion about economic inequality is quite possibly the very last of them. unless he is for it, of course, that at least would be honest.

What does Springsteen know about economic injustice? This guy who pays no taxes on 200 acres of farmland he maintains for his fucking daughter to ride horses on. This guy wants to tell me about economic inequality? Get the fuck out of here.

The quote above was from an “insider” and I got it off the NME and I think it proves how completely out of their minds rock stars are. Springsteen writing about his working class Papa, that I’ll buy. Springsteen, the guy who narrowly avoided a PR disaster by not buying his daughter a horse for $1M, has nothing to be upset about

Bruce never answer one question about how he was getting away with paying $5,000 taxes annually on 200 acres of property. It is possible he is unable to sell it because he is holding it in trust for the State. If that is the case, why won’t anybody tell me?

Here is something I wrote in 2011:

“So how big is Springsteen’s farm. I mean, in terms we can understand?

0.3 square miles

151 football fields

50 City blocks

8,712,000 square feet.

The average house is on 1.5 acres… you can figure that one out yourself.

Like they say, it ain’t a ranch in texas but it is plenty big.

Especially if you use it as a playground for your kids horses, and not much more. And pay a pathetic $5K in taxes.

I’ve read and laughed at the apologists for this dispical act, and to put it in another perspective, you could stick my apartment into those acres 14,520 times.

It isn’t even his home.

And he pays no taxes, I mean, not really pays taxes, $5K is nothing, it is what you pay on 1.5 acres

Man of the people., HAH!”

I assume Christie is calling Bruce out because it is true and because Bruce doesn’t wanna be his buddy any more. One way or the other, Bruce’s insufferable egocentrism is ridiculous. The Governor has just called you a tax cheat, Bruce. Any comments? I’ve haven’t  seen any… shouldn’t you be threatening defamation of character? Why the silence? Oh, go soak in the river.
