Must See: Cupcakke At Le Poisson Rouge, Tuesday, March 6th, 2018

Sure, it’s early, sure the year is stretching out ahead of us forever, but even so, I haven’t been this excited about a new (to me) artist since Mount Eerie a year ago. cupcakke’s Ephorize is either the best or second best album I’ve heard this year, “Duck Duck Goose” is my jam all night long, and cupcakke’s sexual self-interest is just awesome in this sad sad time where feminism and the extreme religious right meet to make the relationship between the sexes somewhere between reset and danger.

Chicago’s cupcakke is the most fun a rapper can be, she is to fucking with a serious edge sexiness what Maxo Kream is to murder, she’s done it and she likes it.

So the news that cupcakke will be at Le Poisson Rouge on Tuesday, March 6th, 2018 (tickets here), had me in a mad dash rushing to Eventbrite and snagging a GA and a meet and greet with the terrific rapper for THIRTY BUCKS. It is the final date of her US tour (then she goes to… Birmingham, England… eh? As Jay-Z said about O.J. -okay) and I expect really big things from the “like who the fuck you like, fuck the world…” woman.

If you love rap, this is ground zero for 2018, an absolute must see for hip hop heads.

Who is she? From wikipedia: “Elizabeth Eden Harris (born May 31, 1997), known professionally as Cupcakke (often stylized as cupcakKe, pronounced like “orange juice”,  is an American rapper and singer from Chicago, Illinois.Harris began her career as a rapper by releasing material through the internet in late 2012. In 2015, two of her songs, “Deepthroat” and “Vagina”, went viral on video sharing websites such as YouTube and WorldStarHipHop”. So yeah, I’m late, but I am ready to make amends.

If you are ready to make amends yourself…
