James Hetfield is a vaccine skeptic

Metallica’s James Hetfield is a science idiot, sorry to be so direct, but no, I am not really sorry.

In the Fierce Life podcast – and it already sounds awful because it’s a podcast about hunting – he shared his ‘skepticism’ regarding COVID-19 vaccines when asked about the possibility of touring this year:

‘I have no clue. It’s not up to me. It really is up to the safety of everyone—not just the fans, but the crew and us. I’m not sure what that means in the future as far as vaccines. I’m a little skeptical of getting the vaccine, but it seems to be rolling out and people are getting it and I’ve got lots of friends that have done it,’ he explained.

‘I’m not totally sure about it,’ Hetfield continued. ‘But I hope it doesn’t come to a point where you have to have that COVID stamp in your passport or something to go everywhere. But if it comes down to that, then I’ll make a decision then. We got vaccinated to go to Africa, so it’s not like I’ve never been vaccinated before. But as a kid, I never got vaccinations ’cause of our religion [Christian Science]. So that was the only time I got one—when we were going on safari in Africa.’

James Hetfield is a vaccine skeptic! You know what, I hope it comes to a point where we have a COVID passport. The problem is that people really do not understand how vaccines work. It’s not necessarily about you, it’s not just about you, and it’s not about your personal freedom. Vaccination is a public health issue. Every person who doesn’t get vaccinated affects the entire species since he or she is a potential reservoir for the virus. every unvaccinated person gives the virus the opportunity to mutate to a more dangerous strain, and reinfect the entire planet.

But why is Hetfield so reticent to vaccination, is he still a Christian Scientist? If he is, it’s worse than I thought, if not, where does his skepticism come from? His own mother died of cancer because she refused medical attention, and relied on her belief in God to heal her. He even believes she could have survived if she had not followed her Christian Science beliefs, that’s the subject of Metallica’s song, ‘The God that Failed.’ So what else does he need?

Metallica is headlining two nights at the Aftershock festival this October in Sacramento. Get your vaccine, James.
