Of all Steven Spielberg’s great moments, the 1993 “Jurassic Park” was the least of them. It was terrific to see dinos not drawn by Hanna-Barbera and that scene with the water trembling was awesome, but it was no “E.T.” and while Spielberg can squeeze out the last drop of anticipation, he can only just do so.
Compared to “Jurassic World: Dominion”, Park is “The Godfather”. There was the first trilogy about the return of dinos due to genetic fuckery the following two movie reboot about the same, and finally the last of them, the godawful “Dominium” where dinos leave the island and return to… another island. The three stars of the first trilogy Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill join the duo from the next two Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard plus teen first daughter Isabella Sermon. The story is a rehash of the first one with some giant locusts thrown in.
The thing is, it needed to be the second half of King Kong, it needed the dinos loose in Manhattan stomping on The Empire State Building and gobbling down the rich and famous, that movie would be killer and it is far from what we get, instead we are stuck on another island.
Let’s hope we get no more
