Live Through This: rock nyc’s Top Concert Picks Week Of November 11th, 2019

My problem with the Lynyrd Skynyrd- Hank Williams Jr gig this summer (here) was as much to do with the timing as it did with the performance, I just wasn’t in the mood for kis my country ass stuff. I am a little calmer now, and a long time Charlie Daniels fan (a real bucket list performer)  and, with the Junior Varsity Allman-Betts Band opening, I can see no excuse not to check out the old reprobate at least once… though he won’t get me to singalong to “How We Roll”. Wednesday at Beacon Theatre.

Tuesday – Dave – Bowery Ballroom – The hot as hell UK rapper, that is

Tuesday – Ariana Grande: Sweetener World Tour – Barclay Center – A huge buyer beware on Ariana, here is my review from June of the same tour

Tuesday – The Ghetto Cowboy Tour 2019,  YELAWOLF – Brooklyn Bowl

Tuesday – Mayday Parade, Nick Santino – Warsaw – How 2012!

Tuesday – MisterWives – Brooklyn Steel

Tuesday – Jeff Goldblum & the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra – Smooth jazz movie star

Wednesday – The Devil Wears Prada – Gramercy Theatre – Christiancore at its best, and only $20, and a GREAT VENUE

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday   – The Coronas- Mercury Lounge – Irish rockers, huge in the UK, completely sold out at a too small venue

Thursday – Chaka Khan – NJPAC – r&b giant

Friday – Blue October – Webster Hall – still bummed out  after all these years

Friday – Maria Taylor – Rockwood – Hits the stage at 1030pm, free with two drink minimum, but you have to get the ticket on Eventbrite in advance

Friday – The Feelies – White Eagle Hall – The boys with perpetual nervousness

Friday – Tool – The boys with perpetual manic depression metal moods are finally back

Friday – Billy Joel – It has been a coupla years since I caught a loust mas show, so maybe a return visit is in order

Friday – Taking Back Sunday – Terminal 5 – Emo Hero

Saturday, Sunday – Kim Petras – The Clarity Tour – Avant Gardener – She sucked opening for Troye Sivan but who knows, this could be her element

Saturday -The Roots with A Christian McBride Situation – NJPAC
