The last time I looked, the Bachata boy band Aventura had called it quits back in 2011 and Romeo Santos was selling out Yankee Stadium for days on end. The Dominican N Sync are apparently, and it took me by as much surprise as it took you, are back with a terrific new greatest hits collection,Todavía Me Amas: Lo Mejor de Aventura, they are here Wednesday through Sunday. According to Billboard, Romeo’s reunion with Aventura is being billed as a one-time-only event that will consist of shows in the group’s native New York during the month of February
Tuesday – The Beach Boys – King’s Theatre – I know Brian isn’t with them but I really love the setlist and Bruce Johnston is with em, and I owe no allegiance to Brian at all.
Wednesday – Kid Cudi – Terminal 5 – His rock album stiffed and T5 sucks, but the man is a true original.
Thursday – KANYE WEST / SEASON 3 / ALBUM – Madison Square Garden – I wouldn’t miss it for the world.
Thursday – Bryan Adams: Get Up – Beacon Theatre – Yes, folks, we’ve reached the place where Bryan’s latest album is substantially superior to Ryan’s last three combined.
Thursday – Dressy Bessy, Old Monk, Disco Cream, Clayton-Ellis – Bowery Electric – Wow, Thursday is chock full of great things. Dressy Bessy’s KING SIZE is simply one of the top five albums of the year, and if I could fit them in after Kanye, I would seriously consider. I’m gonna call on Thursday and find out what time they go on.
Friday – MARTHA REEVES & THE VANDELLAS – BB Kings – “If you can make it, attention must be paid to the superstars of Girl Groupdom.
Friday – Gregory Porter Annual Valentines Day Show Presented By Lpr – Town Hall – One of our top vocalists and always an honor.
Saturday – Lo Mejor De Los 90’s Merengue – Radio City Music Hall – If you were following Merengue during that time, a golden age for merengue this line up will have you crazy: Wilfrido Vargas, Rubby Perez,Kinito Mendez, my personal fave Oro Solido,
Mala Fe, and El Prodigio.
Sunday – Maxwell and Nas – Barclay Center – The one time I saw Maxwell live you’d have thought he’d morphed into Teddy Pendergrass.
