Live Through This: rock nyc’s Top Concert Picks week Of August 26th, 2019

No, I’m not going: the nosebleeds are around a buck fifty including TM charges for the Jonas Brothers? Plus, “Sucker” was a hit sure, but Happiness Begins was bland pop product. But even so, the brothers who lead the way for One Direction? Maybe, you gotta think, right… maybe, Thursday at MSG…

Monday – Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals / Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue – The Rooftop At Pier 17

Monday – Hot 97 + Rich Forever + Martell Present: HOT 97 WHO’S NEXT LIVE! Ft. Jay Critch, Young Bino, 83 Babies and Airi – SOBs – Jay Critch is a draw

Monday, Tuesday –  An Intimate Evening with Alejandro Escovedo Duo – Iridium –  Alejandro is a dynamic punk hipster around since the late 70s and sworn to by Steve Crawford, so blame him if you’re not impressed.

Tuesday – Lenny Kravitz – Radio City Music Hall – I guess there’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way”

Wednesday – Billy Joel – MSG -This guy has the gig of a lifetime, I mean honestly

Wednesday – Randy Bachman – Sony Hall – you have seen something yet

Wednesday – Mary J Blige And Nas – Barclay Center – Mary J was incredible last time I saw her, two years ago maybe, Nas bores the fuck out of me

Friday – Sunday – Electric Zoo Festival – Randall’s Island – I went once year to the EDM fest, I had a good time as well, and if it was at Citifield I might well have gone again

Friday – Flying Lotus – Brooklyn Mirage – The jazzed up, out their DJ… surprisingly effective on stage

Saturday – Dionne Warwick, Peabo Bryson, Deniece Williams/”A Night Of Class Tour” – Beacon Theatre – An ace line up, but I wasn’t crazy about Dionne’s last album.

Saturday – Lyfe Jennings – Sony Hall

Saturday – Future Island – White eagle

Sunday – The Who – Money, It will get you out of bed now,  won’t it?
