I have been thinking of canning this column because there is no new shows so there isn’t much to say, but after getting nailed for a coupla grand worth of tickets I can’t use (till next year… maybe), I wanna get something out of them. Anything.
Ozzy Osbourne’s solo MSG went from June 2019 to Monday June 22nd, to…. cancelled. Well, any way, they weren’t my pick of the week, a bucket list band, Martin Fry’s post-New Wave ABC. Tuesdays gig at Sony Hall was rescheduled to September where the odds are excellent it is either cancelled or postponed again.
ABC are one hit wonders, the two immediate follow-ups to The Lexicon Of Love, Beauty Stab and How To Be A Zillionaire were not bad and nowhere near the same level as the immaculate LOL… and then Martin got cancer and sat down for a coupla years.
Since then ABC have released some stuff but it is all about “Tears Are Not Enough”. And I was sincerely looking forward to seeing Fry on stage, he’s a timeless looking man for a blondie and my bet is he will kill it, in Covid-19 free rocknyc on Tuesday.
