“The 5th annual John Henrys Friends benefit concert to raise funds for children diagnosed with autism. For the first time in NYC, Steve Earle & The Dukes will be performing their acclaimed 2017 release So You Wannabe an Outlaw. Jason Isbell, Josh Ritter and Amanda Shires will each join with sets of their own…” Why that album? why? Why? Why? Still, the show on Tuesday at the Town Hall is tempting, it’s a strong line up and while the album is nothing great, Steve might reclaim it in person…
Monday – Adam Lambert – Bowery Ballroom – An awful cozy Christmas nook for the never idle American. He’s coming off a terrific cover of Cher’s “Believe” as well
Tuesday, Wednesday – Brett Eldredge: GLOW Live – Beacon Theatre – There was a time, maybe two years ago, when Eldredge was the country music go to guy. But it ended.
Wednesday – Andrea Bocelli – Madison Square Garden – I once saw him at a larger gig and fell asleep, so if you need an expensive nab…
Wednesday – Hot 97’s Hot For The Holidays – Kings Theatre – Khalid and Wale headlining, so sweet r&b soul guys for Xmas…
Wednesday – Garrison Keillor – Town Hall – Wait a second, didn’t he kiss a girl on the neckor something and is now closed down…
Thursday – Jesse Malin with special guest Lucinda Williams – Bowery Ballroom
Thursday – Daughters w/ Health – Brooklyn Steel – a terrific metal twofer
Friday – Marky Ramones Holiday Blitzkrieg w/ Greg Hetson – Gramercy Theatre – Gabba Gabba Holly
Friday – Chris Tomlin Christmas: Christmas Songs Of Worship – Beacon Theatre – I feel about going to Christian Contemporary shows much the same way as I feel about going to Ted Nugent or Charlie Daniels, I want to see for myself.
Friday – Bouncing Souls – Brooklyn Steel
Friday – A$AP Ferg w/ Murda Beatz – Terminal 5 – Maybe not sales, but Ferg’s recorded work has come closer to a wildly eclectic sound more like Rocky over the years. This year’s Floor Seats I kinda missed but it is a very strong album.
Saturday – CeeLo Green – Holiday Hits Tour – Sony Hall – Didn’t he get into trouble with #metoo as well? “Green pleaded no contest in August 2014 to one felony count of furnishing a controlled substance stemming from the July 2012 incident where a woman accused him of slipping ecstasy into her drink. As part of his plea deal, Green admitted that he “shared” the drug with woman but did not “slip” it.” Wow, that’s crazy…
Saturday – Trans-Siberian Orchestra 2019 Presented By Hallmark Channel – Prudential Center – Should be seen at least once… and at most once.
Sunday – Yo La Tengo – Bowery Ballroom – They bored me to death opening for Bon Iver (the most disappointing evening of the year), and unless they are performing the entire Fake book, caveat emptor.
Sunday – “Feliz Navidad 2019” José Feliciano – Sony Hall
