With the concert scene simply ice cold in January, even by January’s standards, the Yams Day gig in celebration of A$AP Yams life, Rocky and the rest of the mob will be at Barclay Center on Friday for what amounts to the first big concert of the year. They promise plenty of featured rappers, and they just meant A$AP Ferg either. Personally, in 2017 they had Danny Brown and please god let them bring him back.
Thursday – Little Big Town – mediocre country group who took off from the Lady Antebellum, get to play the big room itself, the Stern Auditoriam, on Thursday. So I guess if you think they have more than “Girl Crush” there is only one way to find out.
Friday – Cashmere cat – the popular DJ with a sharp ear for the dividing line between pop and house.
Friday – An Evening With JD Souther – Sony Hall – SoCal singer songwriter behind Eagles hits “Best of My Love”, “Victim of Love”, and “Heartache Tonight”, and “New Kid in Town”… and dated Linda Ronstadt. IfI wasn’t ging to Yams Day I would so be there.
Friday – Richard Thompson -NJPAC – completely sucked last time I saw him but it could’ve been an off night.
Friday, Saturday – Umphree’s McGee – Beacon Theatre – If you ever get the opportunity give their Live from Beacon Theatre (2013) a spin.
Saturday – Stephanie Mills and The Whispers – NJPAC – old school r&b
Sunday – Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven – I need this a whole lot more than a hole in the head…
