Live Through This: rock nyc Top Concert Picks Week Of February 12th, 2018

OH MY GOD! Robert Plant is encoring with, are you ready?, “Whole Lotta Love”. I never got to see Led Zeppelin though I did see Plant and Page behind the stage at MSG in the 1990s, but nothing since that. So, I go to the Beacon Theatre on Wednesday as thrilled as any one man can be…  I’ve been eyeballing the setlist and it is great as well, this might be one of the best shows of the year. Oh, wait, look, “Please Read The Letter”!!!!

Monday – Sara Evans – All The Love Tour feat. RaeLynn & Kalie Shorr – BB Kings – New pretty terrific women country singers, hold out for “Suds In The Bucket”.

Monday, Tuesday  – MICHELLE SHOCKED CITY VINEYARD – All in for a short sharp one…

Tuesday – All For The Hall Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Kesha, Maren Morris -Playstation – Nice line up for the Country Music Hall Of Fame

Tuesday – Sleigh Bells, Sunflower Bean – Brooklyn Steel – I once saw Sleigh Bells blow Red Hot Chili Peppers off stage at Prudential, but that was years ago, and Sunflower Bean’s daddy annoyed the fuck outta me on social media about this, pretty good, band. So… caveat emptor.

Tuesday – Mardi Gras with Marcia Ball – I haven’t see Ball in decades but when I did she was a first rate country meets jazz ball of fire… trust me on this one, she’ll make you happy all the time.

Tuesday – First Aid Kit – Beacon Theatre – No, the album wasn’t as good as the best singles but, yes, this is a biggie for em and I bet the women bring it.

Tuesday – George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic: Funky Fat Tuesday Celebration – BB Kings- The only good thing about Clinton getting fucked out of his royalties is that you get to visit the one nation under a groove.

Wednesday –  The-Dream: The Young Legend of Love Tour – Gramercy Theatre – You might think you don’t know him, but he was all over Bey’s Four.

Wednesday – A VALENTINE’S EVENING W/ ROBYN HITCHCOCK AT CITY VINEYARD – Sure, I mean nothing says romance like the Soft Boys.

Wednesday – An evening with Gregory Porter – Carnegie Hall – Looking for somewhere to take your sweetie, or just to take yourself, this soulful jazz man is a must see.

Thursday – Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Beacon Theatre – Last time I saw Noel was two years ago at the Beacon and man, he was awesome. The time before that at Governors Ball with the same result. So go…

Thursday – ELEANOR FRIEDBERGER AT CITY VINEYARD – Talented indie woman, remember her in the Fiery Furnace?

Thursday – BØRNS, Charlotte Cardin, Mikky Ekko – Brooklyn Steel – I never much liked Borns, one) I hate the way he spells his name, and 2) his haircut sucks bad. But the new album has its moments so…

Thursday – The Town Hall Presents: Laurie Anderson – The Town Hall – Always an honor oh superwoman.

Thursday – Three Dog Night – BB Kings – Mama, told them not to come…

Friday – Carla Bruni – The Town Hall – The former first lady of France…

Friday – The King Romeo Santos – Madison Square Garden – Yes, indeed, the king of Bachata

Friday – NELLIE MCKAY AT CITY VINEYARD – Sure, I haven’t much loved her since that Doris Day tribute, but I worshiped that Doris Day tribute.

Saturday –  70s Soul Jam, Stylistics, The Emotions, Bloodstone, Peaches and Herb, The Blue Notes – Beacon Theatre – Let’s be clear, THE STYLISTICS AT 3 PM ON A SATURDAY.

Saturday – Ladies Night R&B Super Jam – Xscape, Bobby Brown, Bell Biv Devoe, K-Ci & JoJ – The 80s are here and they sound great.

Saturday – The 1964 Tribute – Carnegie Hall -“replicates a live Beatles concert featuring songs from the pre-Sgt. Pepper era, including the suits, boots, and hairstyles made famous by the Beatles. The concert features Mark Benson as John, Mac Ruffing as Paul, Tom Work as George, and Bobby Potter as Ringo, as well as a 15-piece orchestra conducted by Robert Miller” — I’m taking my Helen who is a born again Beatlemaniac…

Sunday -TEDDY THOMPSON & JENNI MULDAUR AT CITY VINEYARD – I am Facebook friends with his famous and gifted mommy Linda, so we should represent for the talented songwriter.
